Start of the 12 & Under Boys 1.25K Race On a nice Sunday morning at the North Hempstead Beach Park in Nassau County, Bryce started the 2025-2026 season by winning the 1,25K at the 2025 Metropolitan Swimming Open Water Championships. Due to the TVSC Sprint Time Trials at SBU, Bryce was the ony TVSC prarticipant. At last year's Open Water Championships, TVSC won the team competition with many more swimmers. The weather forecast from the previous days promised sunny weather and calm seas. They were correct with the sunny weather, but wrong with the calm seas . . . . 20 MPH wind gusts from the north-east and 2+ feet waves crashing on the beach. If the wind came from the south, the event would have been canceled as the swimmers would be pushed towards Connecticut during their swim.
