After 4 days of extremely fast swimming at Senior Metropolitan Championships this week, TVSC established 17 new long course team records and finished in 5th place overall with 559.5 points. The women's 800 Free Relay team of Bella Dimaculangan (2:11.36), Mary Kate Conway (2:08.43), Hannah Brockman (2:14.53) and Kate Sommerstad (2:09.35) clocked a 8:43.67 to establish a new TVSC Open team record. 40 TVSC swimmers competed at the 2nd Cedar Beach Open Water race. Last year we set a goal of 80 TVSC swimmers at this year's Cedar Beach race. The reason for not meeting this was the cool spring which kept the water temperature in the Sound below normal. So, the first open water practice was held on June 29, 8 days before this event and the water temperature was only in the mid sixties. Under perfect conditions 44 Junior team swimmers completed the Holtsville Biathlon. However, I messed up and most Jr2 swimmers in lanes 5 and 6 swam only 900 meters. Lizzy, Chelsie, Brendan and Branka ignored me screaming on the side of the pool to stop, and completed their last 100 meter anyway. Way to go!
