TVSC Finishes in 10th Place and Breaks 6 Team Records at Sectionals

TVSC finished in 10th place overall at the 2023 Eastern Zone Speedo Short Course Sectional Championships out of 87 teams in the Northeast Region.  With only 4 girls (Bella Dimaculangan, Marissa DeMarco, Emily Herr and Olivia Schlegel) the TVSC women placed 9th overall and the 12 boys used their depth to finish in 9th place overall. 

On the first full day of competition, Emily Herr placed 6th in the 200 Free with a 1:51.01 and 6th in the 400 IM 4:25.70, Marissa DeMarco placed 9th in the 100 Breast with a 1:05.31.  Trevor Green (400 IM) and Max Buchen (100 Breast) both established new team records with Trevor clocking 4:00.32 in prelims and Max touching at 56.19 at finals.  Trevor Green added another team record in the 200 Free for the 13-14 boys, clocking a 1:43.01. 

On day two, 3 more TVSC team records were set.  The 200 Medley Relay team of Trevor Green, Max Buchen, Noah Giunta and Vinny Vinciguerra broke the first team record – clocking a 1:33.43.  Bella Dimaculangan broke the 24 second barrier and 15-16 girls team record with a 23.95 in the 50 Freestyle.  Emily Herr competed in two more championship finals, placing 6th in the 200 Fly and 5th in the 200 Breast.  Max Buchen finished in 4th place in the 200 Breast with a 2:03.72.  The boys 400 Freestyle relay of Noah Giunta, Vinny Vinciguerra, Trevor Green and Ethan Placencia-Nazareno ended the night with a new Open TVSC team record of 3:07.01. 

On the final day of competition, Noah Giunta clocked a 1:51.84 in prelims and finished in 8th place at finals in the 200 Backstroke.  Emily Herr won a Silver Medal in the women’s 200 IM with a 2:03.57 and Bella Dimaculangan finished in 4th place with a 2:04.53.  Emily Herr finished in the top 10 in the high point race with 80 points (7th Place).  The TVSC girls finished with 201 points while the boys added 218 points, combining for 419 points overall.
