21st Annual TVSC Mile Time Trials - Stony Brook University - January 7

For the 21th time nobody "died" during the annual TVSC Mile (the first TVSC Mile was held in 2001).

There were 26 first time 500 swimmers, 19 first time 1000 swimmers, and 15 first time 1650 or mile swimmers!

Most time improvement Izzy Israel (261 seconds).

Great 500 races by 9-year olds Charles Antonetti, Benjamin Rochlin and Vincent Nguyen.

Breaking 14 minutes in the 1000 were Marcus Sumpter, Luke Laidllaw and Bryce Boudreau.

Great mile races by Brabka Petrovic, Jayla Casella, Gordon Khamraev, Nick Fidos and Christian Paterno, Nate Kimmy, Ryana Mossey, Holden Stencel, and Genevieve Rochlin.

 

83 swimmers raced in the 500, 1000 or 1650 free and the total time improvement 2,738 seconds, or more than 45 minutes!

New time standards:1 'AAAA' times, 1 'AAA' times, 7 'AA' times, 5 'A' times, 21 'BB' times, and 16 'B' times.

Trevor Green:

Trevor's goal was to break Jason Louser's very fast 2015 13-14 boys mile record of 16:00.33.  He fell short by 8 seconds.  'AAAA' time, and 2nd fastest all-time mile for 13-14 TVSC boys.  His average pace was 58.7 sec and to break the record the required average pace needed to be 58.2 sec.  Trevor is going to try again at Sr Mets or Sectionals later this short course season. 

 

New All-Time Top-25 Times:

 Kaylee Vargas, Sadie Wiedersum, Luke Laidlaw, and Bryce Boudreau for the 1000 free.

Trevor Green, Brendan Miller, Ryna Mossey,Segei Boudreau, Holden Stncel, Brayden Savas, Alexa Surdi, and Alussa Caslinuovo for the mile.

 

New 'AAA' standard:

The charts below show the how well the swimmers swam their 1000 or 1650 race,  All green means good splits.  The goal should be that the splits per race section are withib 1 second.  The 1000 free swimmers did quite well, but like every year, many mile swimmers started their race too fast and could not maintain that pace. 

Emirhan Ozsoy negative split his race, meaning his second hal was faster that the first half. A good distance race strategy.

Kallie Micena, Morgan Primak, Holden Stencel, Joe Casalinuovo, Conner Dansereau and Sarah Xu negative split the mile.
