TVSC Finishes 5th at the LC Senior Zone Championship

Senior Zones Highlights – Pittsburgh, PA

9 TVSC Swimmers (Frankie Andersen, Timmy Brady, Marissa DeMarco, Bella Dimaculangan, Noah Giunta, Emily Herr, Ethan Placencia-Nazareno, Olivia Schlegel and Vincent Vinciguerra) competed in the 4 day, prelims / finals competition at the University of Pittsburgh.  The men recorded a 10^th place finish scoring 103 points, the women finished 5^th with 214 points while both combined for a Top 5 finish scoring 317 points and finishing in 5^th place overall. 

On the first day of competition Emily Herr led the way for TVSC with 3 new team records, competing in the “A” final in the 200 IM (2^nd Place, 2:21.44), 100 Free (7^th Place, 59.64) and the 100 Breast (2^nd Place, 1:14.07).  Bella Dimaculangan qualified for the “A” final in 2 events, placing 6^th in the 200 IM (2:24.21) and 7^th in the 100 Breast (1:15.90).  Marissa DeMarco earned a 10^th place finish in the 100 Breast clocking a 1:15.72 finishing at the top of the “B” final heat.  On the men’s side, Noah Giunta recorded TVSC’s highest finish of the day by winning the “B” final in the 200 IM (2:12.51), while Timmy Brady placed 11^th in the 100 Breast clocking a 1:09.28 in the “B” final. 

On the second day of competition, Emily Herr broke her 4^th team record of the meet in the 200 Free, finishing in 6^th place with a time of 2:07.36.  Timmy Brady had an outstanding 400 IM placing 4^th overall and clocking a 4:44.00 at finals, while Bella placed 11^th in the same event with a time of 5:08.07.  Vinny Vinciguerra broke the 2:00 minute barrier in the 200 Free for the first time in prelims (1:59.67) and then earned a 16^th place finish in the “B” final.  Emily earned a 10^th place finish in the 100 Fly (1:04.35) while Noah achieved a 14^th place finish in the same event with a time of 58.09.  The men’s 400 Free Relay of Vinny, Noah, Frankie and Ethan recorded a 10^th place finish in the final event of the day finishing with a time of 3:41.33.

On the third day of competition, Emily broke her 5^th team record of the meet in the 200 Fly (2:21.01) and finished in 5^th place.  Bella finish in 12^th place in the “B” final clocking a 2:25.03.  Noah finished in 16^th place in the 200 Fly clocking a personal best 2:11.49.  Olivia qualified for the “B” final in the 100 Backstroke, placing 16^th with a time of 1:08.89.  TVSC relays had a great day with the women finishing in 7^th place and the men finishing in 5^th place in the 800 Free Relays.  Ethan led off the men’s relay and broke the 2:00 barrier in the 200 Free for the first time, clocking a 1:59.87. 

On the final day of competition, Vinny made a Futures cut in the 50 Free at finals clocking a 24.77.  Emily closed out her weekend with another team record in the 200 Breast by achieving a time of 2:40.13 in the “A” final with a 4^th place finish.  Marissa DeMarco used a great morning swim in the 200 Breast to qualify for the “B” final only to drop another second and half at finals to finish in 15^th place with a 2:46.48.  Timmy Brady ended his weekend with a top 5 finish in the 200 Breast (2:28.57).  The women’s 400 Medley Relay (Olivia, Marissa, Emily, Bella) earned a 5^th place finish with a time of 4:30.95.
