TVSC Places 5th Overall at Senior Mets

Day 1 – Thursday

Kate Sommerstad got the first TVSC points of the meet by finishing 9th place in the 800 Freestyle with a time of 9:14.58. 

The relay team of Bella Dimaculangan, Kate Sommerstad, Olivia Schlegel and Emily Herr broke the 800 Free Relay Record by clocking an 8:45.46, finishing 6th place overall.  The previous record of 8:46.70 was from 2019 and that relay team included Sydney Boals, Emily Herr, Angelina Harris and Kyra Sommerstad.

The TVSC men started their point scoring with a top 5 finish in the 800 Free Relay.  Noah Giunta, Liam Preston, Vinny Vinciguerra and Timmy Brady teamed up for a 5th place finish in the event with a final time of 8:01.63. 

Day 2 – Friday

Bella Dimaculangan started off TVSC’s night with a 6th place finish in the 100 Breast clocking a 1:15.65.  Emily Herr broke Julia Smit’s nearly 20 year old record in the 13-14 girls 200 Freestyle by clocking a 2:08.22 and finishing in 10th place overall.  Liam Preston swam a 1:55.87 in the 200 Free and earned a 6th place finish overall.  Emily Herr competed in her second final of the night, this time winning the B final in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:04.23.  Timmy Brady concluded the point scoring on Friday night, placing 15th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:48.35 which was over 7 seconds faster than his seed time of 4:56.02. 

Day 3 - Saturday 

Emily Herr started the night with a 7th place finish in the 200 IM by clocking a 2:23.93.  Timmy Brady followed up his 15th place finish in the 400 IM with a 15th place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.61.  Liam Preston placed 6th in the 50 Freestyle, breaking his own team records, clocking a 24.45.  Kate Sommerstad (1:06.51) and Olivia Schlegel (1:07.15) both qualified for the A final of the 100 Backstroke and finished 5th and 6th respectively.  Kate Sommerstad went straight from the cool down pool back behind the blocks for the 400 Free and finished 16th place with a time of 4:36.86.  Liam Preston showed his distance versatility in 400 Free by clocking a 4:08.98 in the A Final.  In the 400 Medley Relay, Kate, Bella, Emily and Olivia finished 9th overall and Liam, Timmy, Noah and Vinny also finished 9th overall.

Day 4 - Sunday  

Kate Sommerstad finished her pre-college TVSC career in style by winning the 200 Backstroke on the last day of competition, clocking a 2:18.21 – a Junior National Qualifying Time.  Noah Giunta followed up Kate’s Gold Medal performance with a 13th place finish in the 200 Backstroke clocking a 2:13.96.  Bella Dimaculangan dropped 3 seconds off her prelims time in the 200 Breast to earn a 13th place finish with a time of 2:47.60.  Timmy Brady had another huge time drop, this time in the 200 Breast.  Timmy earned a 10th place finish with a 2:29.13.  Liam Preston finished his pre-college TVSC career by finishing 6th in the 100 Freestyle in a 52.86 final time.  Emily Herr finished her busy weekend with an 11th place finish in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:25.30.  Frankie Andersen scored the final individual TVSC point on the weekend by finishing 16th place in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:18.86.  The women’s 400 Free Relay of Bella, Marissa Demarco, Olivia and Emily finished 9th with a time of 4:08.81.  The relay team of Noah Giunta, Liam Preston, Vinny Vinciguerra and Ethan Placencia-Nazareno broke a 2014 record by over 4 seconds, clocking a 3:39.62 in the 400 Freestyle Relay which was good enough for a 7th place finish overall.
