Peter Smit

Earlier in the week the weather forecast for Friday morning was rainy and cool.

Yesterday's forecast cloudy and cool.

Surpringly, this morning it was sunny and pleasant, or perfect open water swimming conditions for the first USA-Swimming sanctioned open water event at Cedar Beach.

44 TVSC swimmers competed, most first time open water swimmers, and all did very well.

The goal for next summer is 80 TVSC swimmers competing at the 2nd annual Cedar Beach Open Water Event!

Results are posted below the pictures.

Next open water events:

  • Town of Brookhaven Lifeguard Run-Swim-Run in early August
  • Metro Open Water Championships off Rye beach on September 26
