TVSC Swimmers Compete at Short Course Age Group Championships

13 TVSC Swimmers competed at the Short Course Age Group Championship against over 130 other teams from all over the east coast at Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY.  Here are some of the highlights and accolades they achieved at the competition.           

 

10th Place Combined Overall out of 136 scoring teams with 454 Points (2nd out of Metro Teams)

4th Place Boys Team out of 102 scoring teams with 421 Points (2nd out of Metro Teams)

Girls Team 23 Points (9th out of Metro Teams)

 

Boys Top 3 Scorers

Trevor Green led the boys with 103 points (5th Overall in 13-14 boys, Top Scoring 13-year-old boy)

Brayden Savas - 55 Points

Ethan Placencia-Nazareno – 30 Points

 

Women Top 3 Scorers

Ava Emmerich led the girls with 18 points

Lila Monti – 4 Points

Amelia Griffin – 3 Points (Unattached-TVSC)

Giuliana Vavalle – 1 Point

 

Day 1

Trevor Green, Brayden Savas, Sergei Boudreau and Ethan Placencia-Nazareno placed 1st in the 400 Free Relay with the race coming down to Ethan out-splitting Scarlet Aquatic Club’s anchor leg by over 3 seconds.  Ryan Sommerstad dropped 22 seconds in the 1650 to earn a 6th place overall finish, clocking a 17:10.44.

Day 2

Trevor placed 5th in the 100 Fly, Brayden placed 8th in the 400 IM and Brendan Miller placed 16th in the 100 Free (Fastest time for 11 year olds).  Trevor also placed 12th in the consolation final of the 200 Free and Giuliana Vavalle finished 20th in the consolation final of the 200 Free to get the TVSC girls on the scoreboard. 

Day 3

Trevor used a great last underwater kick out to take first place in the 200 IM (1:58.99), besting two other swimmers by .02 and .34 seconds.  Ethan won the consolation final in the 200 IM clocking a 2:02.97.  Trevor and Brayden both swam in the A Final of the 100 backstroke placing 6th and 9th respectively. Brendan added a 12th place finish in the 11-12 50 Back, clocking a 28.79 (a full second better than his seed time).  Ethan finished 18th place in the 50 Free, and Ava finished 16th place in the 500 Free.  Ryan earned a 16th place finish and bettered his personal best time for the 3rd time in one day after winning a dramatic swim-off just to earn a spot in the consolation final.  Joseph Monahan closed out the night with a 6th place finish in the 200 Fly, clocking a 2:16.81 (nearly 10 seconds better than his seed time of 2:25.40 and climbed from 24th seed to finish 6th place).

Day 4

Amelia Griffin started the night with an 18th place finish and best time in the 200 Back.  Trevor placed 2nd in the 200 Back while Johnny Casalinuovo placed 15th in the consolation final.  Lila Monti dropped over a second in a half in the consolation final of the 200 Breast for a 17th place finish (was seeded 27th).  Sergei Boudreau earned a 13th place finish in the 200 Breast.  Ethan touched the wall first in the consolation final of the 100 Free, clocking a 49.74.  Brayden and Trevor closed out the meet finishing 5th and 9th place in the 200 Fly.

Other Relay Highlights:

The relay combo of Brayden, Ethan, Sergei and Trevor also placed 2nd in the 200 MR and 400 MR, along with a 4th place finish in the 200 Free Relay.
