First Open Water Practice of the Summer at Cedar Beach - June 29

32 TVSC swimmers showed up for the first open water practice of the summer ar Cedar Beach.  The water temperature was a cool, ~70 degrees, but with the bright sun it was bearable.  The water temperature will increase every day. 

The Junior 1 swimmers swam one lap around the Cedar Beach East swimming area and most Junior 2s swam two laps with Coach Kate.

Town of Brookhaven lifeguard and TVSC coach, Rita Chen, helped guide the swimmers on a surf board and another lifeguard assisted the swimmers in a kayak. 

Nobody panicked this year, except several parents. 

Some swimmers started swimming with their head above the water, but most or all put their head in the water as they found out the other way was really hard. 

A single lap around the swim area is about 950 meter. 

Two laps a is about 1800 meters.

Three laps is about 2650 meters
